Honor Gaza by renewing efforts to bring justice to Palestinians

Statements

(CHICAGO 12/28/2012) – Today, four years since Israeli Occupation Forces instigated Operation Cast Lead, the American Muslims for Palestine call upon people of conscience everywhere to honor Gaza by renewing our efforts to bring justice to the Palestinian people.

We must never forget Israel’s three-week assault on the Palestinians of Gaza, which occurred from Dec. 27, 2008 to Jan. 17, 2009. The assault left in its wake more than 1,400 dead, 5,300 wounded and an infrastructure so devastated that, coupled with the siege, could leave the area uninhabitable in just a few short years, according to the United Nations.

But we must also remember that the Palestinians of Gaza continue to rise above the inhumane situation in which they are forced to live because of Israel’s incessant violations of international law. We must continue to shed light on their stories of dignity, hope, love and perseverance. It is in this way that we honor them, especially the victims of Operation Cast Lead, and all those who perished since and in the recent Operation Pillar of Defense at the hands of the occupying Zionist entity.
